I was raised in the Southern Forest (Boojarah) region of WA. My formative years living in the Australian bush have informed a visual language that is now tangible in my landscape paintings. Through painting, I connect with the natural world around me, contemplating who I am and where I belong, and revealing ties between memory, identity, and the land.

I create small en plein air studies along the banks of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) in Boorloo (Perth) and in my hometown, Manjimup. Being present and immersed in the landscape is fundamental to my pursuit of capturing its aliveness. In the studio, larger paintings are created from these studies and photographic imagery I collect when emersed in each place. 

My paintings often take on an unconventional colour palette. The sunlight here is striking—glaringly bright, more intense than in many other places. Its brittle sharpness contrasts with the softer, glowing light of morning and evening, guiding my colour palette and mark-making. As a result, my paintings balance a soft, luminous quality with an electric vibrancy.

Ultimately, my work speaks to the beauty of the Australian landscape and our place within it.
